Self Drive wine tours are all custom designed around your length of stay in New Zealand and the regions you would like to visit from the North Island to the South Island. We will give you recommendations of places to visit, all the great sights to see along the way, and of course the best wineries to include in your personalised itinerary.

Wine Tour Inclusions

All self drive tours include a modern late model vehicle, spacious enough to hold all you and your fellow travellers bags and extras.  Maps of New Zealand roads, travel times and of course directions to your list of favourite wineries are all included.  All nominated drivers must be over the age of 21 and hold a full drivers licence.  Full vehicle insurance is also included for all itineraries.

Superb accommodation is another feature of all our tours.  We design all itineraries to suit your budget and we use a collection of premium hotels, serviced apartments and lodges that we prefer for all our guests, so you can be assured of a great nights sleep in very comfortable surroundings.

All prepared itineraries include a list of must visit wineries and vineyard restaurants that have been personally selected, giving you the ultimate wine and food experience while relaxing with friends surrounded by stunning scenery. 

At the start of your self drive tour, you will be met by a representative of Enthusiast Wine Tours to assist with meeting your rental vehicle, answering any questions you may have and to give you that extra bit of advice that only a local kiwi guide would know!

Great! How do I book my self drive itinerary?

This is the fun part.  All you need to do is email us with information regarding:

  • How many days you would like to travel
  • Select accomodation in 4 star, 5 star,  luxury lodge or a combination of these
  • The number of people in the tour group
  • Which wine regions or wineries you would like to visit, or leave that up to us to choose for you!
